A mailbox says “Needs reconnecting”
PlainMailOS can no longer sign in to that mailbox, so it has stopped syncing. Nothing is lost: once it's reconnected, mail that arrived in the meantime is fetched.
Common reasons
- The mailbox password was changed.
- Access for PlainMailOS was removed in your Google or Microsoft account settings.
- An administrator revoked access or changed your organization's sign-in rules.
- The mail provider now requires an app password (IMAP mailboxes).
How to fix it
- Open Mailboxes and select the mailbox marked “Needs reconnecting”.
- Microsoft or Google mailbox: choose Reconnect and sign in with the same account. If you pick a different account, PlainMailOS stops and tells you, so the wrong mailbox is never attached.
- IMAP mailbox: choose Update password and enter the current password, or an app password. PlainMailOS tests it before saving.
Only the person who connected a personal mailbox can reconnect it. Shared mailboxes can be reconnected by an organization admin.
